School board eyes new 1/2-cent sales tax

Bracing for an expected major decline in tax revenues in the 2026-27 school year due to the closure and demolition of the GP Foley Cellulose mill, the Taylor County School District has hired a polling company to gauge the public’s support of a potential new 1/2-cent local option sales tax to fund future capital improvements.
