    William E. “Bill” Stanley Sr.

    William E. “Bill” Stanley Sr., a beloved husband, father and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Oct. 9, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on July 3, 1949, in Coburn, Va., Bill led a life filled with love, joy and a passion for the great outdoors. A proud resident of Perry, Bill found great joy in fishing and hunting, with a particular fondness for turkey hunting. These pursuits were more than mere hobbies; they were a reflection of his deep appreciation for nature and the serenity it provided. Bill cherished the time spent in the company of family and friends during these excursions, creating lasting memories that will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him. His professional life was dedicated to serving others as an insurance agent, where he built meaningful relationships and earned the respect of his clients and colleagues. His commitment to his work mirrored the care he extended to his family, especially to his loving spouse, Joan Stanley. Together, they embraced the adventures of life hand in hand, sharing laughter, love and countless cherished moments. Bille was preceded in death by: his parents, Carter and Mary Stanley; his brother. Carter L. Stanley; and daughter, Theresa Stanley. He is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Joan Stanley; son, Bill Stanley Jr., and his wife, Theresa; three grandchildren, Ryan Williams, Isaiah Stanley and Naomi Stanley; siblings, Bobby Stanley and Doris Bradley, and Jeannie Allinder; nephews, Chase and Marcus Stanley; nieces, Carla Stanley Leggett, Laneal Lunsford and Melissa Stanley; and stepchildren, Lawton Williams and Rodna Williams. Family and friends gathered to celebrate Bill’s life and legacy in a reflection of his values and passions. Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. at Joe P. Burns Funeral Home of Perry with Pastor Danny Lundy officiating. Interment service followed at Beth Page Cemetery in Wacissa. Loved ones are encouraged to share stories, laughter and their fondest memories of Bill as they come together to pay tribute to a remarkable man who touched the lives of so many. Bill will be profoundly missed but forever remembered as a kindhearted individual with a spirit as vibrant as the outdoors he cherished.
