    Rodney Dean Hart

    Rodney Dean Hart, 68, of Mayo passed away peacefully on Oct. 26, 2025, surrounded by family.

    He was born March 30, 1957, in Lake City to the late Lester “Bob” and Audrey Hart.

    He spent more than 40 years working in construction, beginning his career as a pipe welder for Watkins International and spending the remainder of his career in Project Management.

    Rodney was also a lifelong member of Riverside Baptist Church in Mayo.

    He is survived by: his loving wife of 31 years, Glenda Hart; two children, Garrett Hart (Brandi) and Mackenzie Hart, both of Port Orange; one grandchild, Caleb Hart; and five brothers and one sister, Foye Hart (Shirley) of Mayo, Benny Hart (June) of Tallahassee, Joann Sullivan (Jody) of Mayo, Wayne Hart of Ellaville, Ga.,, Mikie Hart (Gina) of Mayo and Mark Hart (Lynn) of Mayo.

    Rodney had a deep affection for animals and took pride in raising them – a passion he passed on to his family.

    He was happiest with his loved ones nearby, whether working around the house, sharing stories at the table or going for a ride to check up on his family and friends.

    A celebration of Rodney’s life will be held Thursday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m., at Airline Baptist Church in Mayo. The family will receive friends and family starting at 2 p.m.

    In honor of Rodney’s love for all creatures great and small, in lieu of sending flowers, please feel free to donate to your local Humane Society in his memory.

    Rodney will be remembered for his unwavering love of his family, his pride in his children, and his peaceful way of moving through life – a man who found joy in the simple things, his faith, family and friends.
