Pioneer pedigree

Old Bead was as familiar a site around Shady Grove as his owner, Alderman (Auley) Carlton Hendry.

The mule was Hendry’s main way of getting around and, together, they were a distinctive pair between Bead’s rather round shape and Hendry’s trademark shock of hair and long beard.
