Linda Carlton Hawkins was born on Aug. 21, 1947, and departed this world on Nov. 30, 2025. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles Ralph Carlton and Pansy Hendry Carlton, and brother, Mark Anthony Carlton. She is survived by her loving partner of 30 years Vance Burford; her brother, Charles (Diane) Carlton; niece, Amber Carlton; and her extended family members. Linda graduated from Taylor County High School in 1965. She attended Lake City Nursing School and received her nursing certificate. She later decided nursing wasn’t for her, and began a career in retail working at Dalton’s Drugs in Tallahassee, where she worked for many years. She then went to work for Gayfers, where she worked until 1994. In 1996, she moved back to Perry. Shortly after, she went to work with Taylor County, serving as clerk and later, as the head librarian at the public library until retiring in 2017. Linda loved the beaches and fishing. But most of all, she loved family, friends and her two dogs, Harley and Blue. She leaves behind a world that is a little brighter because she was in it, and endless memories that will make her loved ones smile for years to come. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 3, at 11 a.m. at Burns Funeral Home, with Brother Chris Arnold officiating.
