Kick off the Christmas season in downtown Perry Dec. 5

Here comes Santa Claus!

Jolly Saint Nick will be in downtown Perry this Friday, Dec. 5, to join the Taylor County Historical Society and Perry-Taylor County Chamber of Commerce in kicking off the Christmas season.

Actors from Cast & Company Theater Group will be dressed as some of the most iconic characters from everyone’s favorite Christmas movies to help celebrate this year’s theme: “Lights, Camera, Christmas!”

In keeping with tradition, Santa’s friends at the City of Perry Fire Department will give him a ride atop one of their shiny firetrucks for this year’s “Santa’s Little Helpers Christmas Parade,” which will begin at 6 p.m.

Coordinated by the chamber, the event will feature more than 30 entries.

A tree-lighting ceremony at the historical society (behind the courthouse at the corner of Main Street and Washington Street) will begin immediately following the parade.
