    Michael Wayne Howard

    It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael Wayne Howard, 72, who departed this life on Dec. 4, 2025, in Tallahassee. Michael was born on Sept. 2, 1953, in Richmond, Ky., and lived a life characterized by service, devotion and love for his family and community. He proudly served in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of sergeant. His service to his country was a source of great pride, and he carried the values of discipline, honor and dedication throughout his life. His faith and love for God were central to his being, as demonstrated by his active participation at Victory Baptist Church, where he cherished his church family and found meaning in community and worship. As a truck driver, Michael devoted himself to his work in the trucking industry, ensuring goods reached their destinations while forging lasting friendships along the way. He touched the lives of many through his kindness and genuine spirit. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Ophelia Howard, and his grandparents. He is survived by: his devoted wife of 46 years, Debra Howard; his loving sister, Kimberly Fisher; his daughter, Kelley Berryman of Winchester, Ky.; and his granddaughter, Lana Newkirk, also of Winchester. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion,and unwavering faith that will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 11, at 6 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church in Perry with a visitation beginning two hours prior to the service. Burial will take place at the Tallahassee National Cemetery in Tallahassee on Friday, Dec. 12, at 11 a.m., where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Michael’s life. In this time of grief, we find comfort in the memories of Michael’s unwavering love and the impact he had on all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. May he rest in eternal peace.
