After nearly five days of work, Jefferson Street (U.S. Hwy 221) was re-opened to traffic on Friday, Feb. 27, when Anderson Columbia paving crews laid down fresh asphalt over a large section of road that was washed out by a damaged water line. A drowsy motorist traveling back to Miami crashed into a fire hydrant, causing a major break in a 12-inch water line that washed out a large section of road on Sunday, Feb. 22.
