The Friends of the Taylor County Public Library will host author Terresa Cooper Haskew as guest speaker on Monday, March 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m.
Her novel, “Winston’s Book of Souls,” is set in a small North Florida town in the 1960s.
In early 1960, Terresa Louanne Cooper, and her parents, Wilfred and Margaret Cooper, moved from Tallahassee to Perry.
Terresa was six years old; her brother, Wayne Cooper was four; and her sister, Lisa Cooper was eight years old.
She attended Gladys Morse Elementary School, where George Collins was principal, and her first grade teacher was Mrs. Swearingen.
The Cooper family at one time lived on High Street in Perry. Terresa’s baby sister, Denise, was born in March 1961 at the Perry hospital.
Her mother, Margaret Cooper, became the Gladys Morse school secretary.
Some of their friends were Teresa Albritton, Barry (Bim) Brooks, Ruth and John Flowers and their children, Norma Guenthner, the Brooks family, the Dillon family, and Al and Louellen Moore, Joanie Flowers, and her sister, Linda.
The program will be at the Taylor County Public Library, located at 403 N. Washington Street.
