    County receives ‘hazard mitigation’ grants to fund projects in three flood-prone areas

    East Ellison Road residents have long suffered from widespread flooding (above) after major rain events. The county recently received funding for Phase I (surveying, design, engineering and permitting) of a flood mitigation project to “provide protection against a 50-year storm event.”

    Three flood-prone areas of Taylor County are one step closer to eventually getting some relief, as Taylor County has signed “hazard mitigation” grant agreements for federal funding that will pay for surveying, engineering, design, plans preparation, permitting and bidding for flood-mitigation projects in the areas of East Ellison Road, Dewey McGuire Road and Foley Cut-Off Road.
