City considers ‘Opportunity Zone’ designations to attract investment

The City of Perry is considering seeking to certify several portions of the city as “Opportunity Zones” — a federal designation used as an economic development tool to attract long-term private investment by offering investors tax breaks in exchange for putting their money to work in designated struggling communities.
