It is said you die twice – Once when you die, and again when no one speaks your name.

The Taylor County heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom are forever immortalized in stone, and their names ring out every year during Memorial Day ceremonies held on the sacred grounds at Veterans Memorial Park on Jefferson Street.

The sprawling park stands as both a reminder that peace comes at a cost, and a tribute to the men and women willing to pay that price for God, family and country.

Monday’s ceremony will begin at 10 a.m., and the public is invited to come together to speak and remember the names of Taylor County’s war dead so that – for a brief moment – they live again.
