The Taylor County Historical Society and the Aucilla Research Institute (ARI) will host a Fossil Roadshow this Saturday, May 30, at Forest Capital Hall.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
ARI staff and researchers will showcase North Florida artifacts and fossils, while also offering identification services for any artifacts people would like to share.
“There is exactly zero chance of anyone’s items being seized,” ARI’s Dr. Andy Hemmings said.
“Everyone involved is from the Aucilla Research Institute and the Taylor County Historical Society, both of which are small private non-profit organizations that have no authority over anything and are not affiliated with any government agencies. The objects are all very interesting, but we are most interested in information. If people are willing to show us artifacts, fossils, historical items, etc, we are happy to tell them everything we can about them,” he said.
“This event is about history, and education,” Historical Society Vice President J.T. Davis said.
