    Awards ceremony for Short Story Contest winners is June 29 at library

    Winners of the Friends of Taylor County Public Library 20th annual Short Story Contest will be recognized at an awards presentation planned Monday, June 29, at 5:15 p.m., at the library (located at 403 North Washington Street).

    Prizes will be presented in three categories: youth, student and adult.

    The winners are:

    Youth: first place, “One-Hand Wally” by Maddie McCormick; second place, “The Forgetful Squirrel” by Jentry Baker; and honorable mention, “The Story of the Three Dwarves” by Wyatt Baker.

    Student: first place, “Future Flashes” by Maddox Wiles; second place, “Jerry’s Memories of Anzio” by Jack Johnson; and honorable mention, “First Period Problems” by Alex Endel.

    Adult: first place, “The Last Roll” by John Hart; second place, “Anything” by Wade Holton; and honorable mention, “The Girl Who Wished for Wisdom” by Rachel Copeland.

    The awards presentation will also be livestreamed on Facebook.
