    Protecting Taylor’s coastline and adding recreational opportunities

    Coastal River Alliance of the Big Bend (CRABB), a newly-formed local non-profit organization, has a longterm goal of connecting Rosehead Park in downtown Perry to the Gulf with a kayak trail passing through several creeks and eventually the Fenholloway River. The Taylor County Commission recently voiced their support for the proposal and agreed to look into adding a kayak launch at Hampton Springs Park as a first step toward the larger goal. One issue facing the proposal is the large number of trees that remain fallen across the waterways after Hurricane Idalia in 2023 and Debby and Helene in 2024.
