Florida Gas Transmission’s 5,400-mile pipeline moves roughly 60% of the natural gas consumed in Florida from South Texas along the Gulf Coast through Taylor County to South Florida. The proposed $1.22 billion “Phase IX Project” would boost capacity by adding about 95 miles of mainline looping across 14 counties in Mississippi and Florida — including a 14.85-mile Loop 5 segment ending in Taylor County — plus added horsepower at existing compressor stations such as Taylor County’s Station 15. Construction is proposed to begin in late 2027.
Florida Gas Transmission (FGT), the Houston, Texas-based company that operates a local compressor station here, has asked federal regulators for permission to expand the interstate system that runs through Taylor County.
