City, Anderson Columbia to split $1 million gas line extension
Posted on October 2, 2026
Under a revised deal, the City of Perry and paving contractor Anderson-Columbia will split an estimated $934,655 in up-front costs to extend a natural gas main to the asphalt plant on Hwy. 27 East. City Manager John Hart expects the city will generate an estimated $130,000 or more in new gas revenues per year after the expected seven-year payback period to cover the cost of running the line.
Nearly two months after giving an informal go-ahead, the Perry City Council voted 4-1 on Sept. 22 to approve a natural gas main expansion to the Anderson Columbia asphalt plant on Highway 27 East, paving the way for more than $100,000 per year in increased natural gas revenues in the future.
