It was a homecoming celebration 67 years in the making.

On Saturday, April 23, World War II Navy veteran Harold Young, 90, stepped onto the tarmac at Tallahassee Airport and was cheered as a hero.

He was one of 78 World War II and Korean War veterans taking part in the second annual Honor Flight Tallahassee.

He was one of 78 veterans flown to Washington, D.C., to see the World War II monument. His granddaughter, Hope Lynn, accompanied him on the trip. The group was met by a large welcoming party that included Gov. Rick Scott, far right, upon their return.
