In a bid to keep its economic development momentum moving forward, the Perry City Council will look at modifying an ordinance that currently prevents the sale of alcohol (specifically applying to restaurants) on Sundays.
“We have BioNitrogen coming here and it’s a good thing, and I would like to see us continue to work to get jobs to come in…there is one key thing that is preventing jobs—restaurants—coming into town and that is an ordinance about the sale of alcohol in restaurants on Sundays. I would like to get some information from the community, hopefully tweak that ordinance—about the sale of alcohol in restaurants only—so we can get restaurants to come in here. They would bring jobs, good jobs, for teenagers going to college waitressing or being waiters. It gives Perry options and when you have options, you have other businesses coming in too, to eat, work and play,” Councilman Alan Hall said.
