Deviating significantly from the source material, Disney’s new animated film “Big Hero 6” is packed with humor, action and heart, mixing these three ingredients to create a top-notch movie that is sure to entertain children and adults alike.
Disney has been a solid roll for the past several years, with “Tangled,” “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Big Hero 6” featuring solid stories and engaging characters, and last year’s “Frozen” becoming the highest grossing animated film of all time. Risking the ire of singing children everywhere, I do have to say “Frozen” is probably my least favorite of this recent string. (Now, I liked “Frozen,” but I just liked the others more.)
Combining the high-flying action of comic books, the visual aesthetics of Japanese anime and the latest in 3-D animation, “Big Hero 6” is a fun adventure that could very well become another popular franchise for the Disney/Marvel behemoth.
“Big Hero 6” brings the realm of comic books to big screen animation with a story packed with action, engaging characters and a promise of more to come.
The film is rated PG for action and peril, some rude humor and thematic elements.
