In what is being described as a “widespread wind event,” a series of storms Sunday brought down trees and caused a power outage affecting much of Perry. The weather also produced a higher-than-normal tide inundating several properties along the coast.
According to Taylor County Emergency Management Director Steve Spradley, the county received reports from residents of a possible tornado crossing U.S. 19 south of Athena near Bill Howell Road.
