Wentworth strikes out 15, ‘Dogs score four to beat Florida High

Junior pitcher Cole Wentworth struck out 15 batters and his Taylor County teammates got the most out of four hits Wednesday as the Bulldogs ousted top-seeded Florida High 4-2 in the second round of the Class 4A, District 2 Tournament being played this week at Perry’s Pace Field.

The victory guarantees that TCHS (14-10) will advance to the state playoffs but Coach Reggie Wentworth wants the district title and a first-round home date in the playoffs as well. The Bulldogs were slated to play Godby Thursday night for the district championship.
