    Shorter summer for students

    Posted on May 15, 2015

It is now official. The upcoming summer break for Taylor County students will be two weeks shorter than originally thought.

This comes after the Florida Legislature passed a bill during its recent session allowing school districts to start classes earlier than before. Under the new law, school districts can now begin the school year as early as Aug. 10. The previous language prohibited districts from starting more than 14 days before Labor Day, which would have had classes starting Aug. 24 this year.
