The Taylor County School Board added three new full-time bus driver positions this week and removed a requirement that applicants have a high school diploma as part of its continuing efforts to increase the number of drivers working for the district.
Earlier this month, the school board was forced to put on hold a much more comprehensive plan to attract new drivers when representatives of the Taylor County Non-Instructional Association (TCNIA) threatened legal action if the board acted unilaterally without negotiating with the bargaining unit over any salary issue covered by their contract.
