New school funding raises questions

While the Taylor County School District’s request for funding to construct a new primary school in Perry was not included in the state budget, two other counties’ projects found their way into the final draft, including one which had not even been recommended for funding by the Florida Department of Education (DOE) committee overseeing the program.

Florida House and Senate negotiators reached a compromise late Monday night on the state budget and both sides are expected to approve the nearly $80 billion spending plan today after waiting a constitutionally-mandated “cooling-off” period.
