William \u201cBill\u201d Alven Grantham, 84, of Callahan passed away\npeacefully at his residence Saturday morning, Jan. 5, 2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bill was born on April 2, 1934, in Perry to the late Buddy\nand Beulah Johnson Grantham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bill and his wife, Joyce, lived in Hilliard, for more than 20\nyears and then resided in Valdosta, Ga., before moving to Callahan to be close\nto family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1951 to1955. He\nattended forestry school in Lake City, and then made a career in the timber\nindustry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bill had a passion for outdoor life\u2026especially fishing and\nhunting. He was a wonderful and much-loved husband, father, grandfather and\ngreat grandfather, along with being a friend to many. He touched many lives and will never be\nforgotten by those who loved him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bill is survived by: his daughters Sandy (Michael) Carroll of\nCallahan and Brenda (Steve) Shambach of St. Augustine; grandchildren Brian\n(Jeanna) Carroll, Tiffany (Josh) Baker, Jennifer (DJ) Willard and Brett\nShambach; sister, Shirley (Dave) Houchin; and seven great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Lee (Williams)\nGrantham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. with\na service following at noon at the First Baptist Church of Callahan. Graveside\nservices will be held at 2 p.m. at the National Cemetery in Jacksonville.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
