Mrs. Roama Hunter O’Steen, 98, a lifelong resident of\nPerry, passed away on Saturday July 13, 2019, at her home. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs. O’Steen was born August 31, 1920, in Perry to\nGrover C. Hunter and Martha Rowell Hunter. She was a graduate of Taylor County\nHigh School. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs. O\u2019Steen was of the Baptist faith and was a member\nof First Baptist Church of Perry. She worked as a legal secretary with the\nTaylor County Judges Office for 19 years and also taught typing at Taylor\nTechnical Institute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs. O\u2019Steen was a loving and devoted wife, mother,\nand grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was very\nintelligent and had an extraordinary memory. She also had a wonderful sense of\nhumor and enjoyed hearing and telling a good joke. In her spare time she\nenjoyed camping, playing games, and gardening. She is survived by: a son, Michael S. O\u2019Steen, and\nwife, Donna; one granddaughter, Lisa O\u2019Steen Arrowood, and husband, Danny; four\ngreat-grandchildren, Lauren Arrowood, Michael K. Strickland, Garrett Arrowood,\nand Jessica Strickland Howard; two great-great-grandchildren, Nathan and Chloe\nStrickland, all of Perry; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives,\nand friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday,\nJuly 16, in the Burns Memorial Chapel with Bro. Tommie Stanaland officiating.\nThe family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of\nflowers donations may be made to Big Bend Hospice. O\u2019Steen;\na daughter, Frieda O\u2019Steen Carlton; a grandaughter, Shelly O\u2019Steen Strickland;\na grandson, John Wiley Carlton; three brothers, Dewey, Eddie and Cecil\nHunter; and a sister, Annie Hunter Cruce<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
