Cardona, 67,\npassed away July 19, 2019 at her home in Shady Grove surrounded by her family.\nValerie was born March 2, 1952 in Cleveland, Ohio to William Morris and Arline\nMetti Morris.<br>\nValerie honorably served our country in the United States Air Force during the\nGulf War era. She retired after 21 years as a Lieutenant Colonel. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Valerie was of the\nMethodist faith and was a member of Lake Bird Methodist Church. She was a registered\nnurse for over 35 years with the Air Force and as a civilian. She enjoyed\ngardening and was an avid snow skier and roller skater. She loved animals,\nespecially her golden retrievers.<br>\nValerie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Arline Morris.<br>\nValerie is survived by: the love of her life, Ralph \u201cBuzz\u201d Powers; her daughter,\nTeresa Cardona of Austin, Texas; her sister, Claudette Russo (Frank), and her\nbrother Lance Morris (Robin); as well as a host of nieces and nephews.<br>\nA celebration of Valerie\u2019s life will be held Thursday, July 25, at 5 p.m. at\nBurns Funeral Home of Perry with Pastor Wallace Holmes officiating. The family\nwill receive friends beginning one hour prior to the service. All arrangements\nare under the direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
