Katie Florence Baskin Monroe was born on\nSeptember 10, 1935, in Union Spring, Ala., to the late E.K. and Emma\nBaskin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Katie confessed Christ at an early age in\nAlabama and united with New Brooklyn Missionary Baptist Church after relocating\nto Perry where she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher (Class #2),\nYouth Director, Treasurer, Trustee and Deaconess. She was an active member of\nthe Lily White Lodge #110, Order of the Eastern Star. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She graduated from Perote High School in the\nClass of 1953. She worked for many years as a Purchasing Clerk at Doctors\nMemorial Hospital, retiring in 1998. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following the path that God ordained for her\nlife, she was united in holy matrimony to Aaron L. Monroe on March 3, 1956, and\nto their union three adorable children were born. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deaconess Katie Monroe was ushered into the\npresence of the Lord on Friday, August 9, 2019. She was preceded in death by\nher husband, Aaron Monroe and her parents, E.K. and Emma Baskin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
She will forever remain in the hearts of her\nthree devoted children: Cynthia Harris (Clyde), Sharon Monroe both of Perry;\nKristy Monroe of Jacksonville; one stepson: Jerome Monroe of Orlando;\ngod-daughter: Kiara Gray, six grandchildren: Aundre, Sonya, Tiffany, Jabari,\nCaretta, Malcom, special uncle: Kilus White, that was like a brother to her and\na host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Services will be held on Saturday,\nAugust 17, at 11 a.m. at New Brooklyn\nMissionary Baptist Church at 817 West Hampton Springs Avenue in Perry. with\nReverend William Ricky Bolden officiating. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
