Alan Robert Beckman\npassed away June 14, 2019, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alan was born July 3,\n1949, in Erie, Pa., to Robert\nL. “Bob” Beckman and Barbara “Babs” Beckman. He was the\noldest of three siblings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As a young boy, Alan grew\nup in Perry and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Alan graduated\nfrom Taylor County High School class of 1967. After graduating from TCHS, Alan\nearned his bachelor degree from University of Florida and went on to earn a law\ndegree from Memphis State University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
His\nfirst job out of law school had him working for the Miami-Dade County (FL)\nDistrict Attorney’s Office, and then out to Denver, Colo., as a criminal\ndefense attorney. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 1982\nthe Governor of Colorado appointed Alan to the bench as Arapahoe County Judge.\nAlan then moved to Las Vegas, Nev., in 1993 where he helped open the UNLV Paralegal\nStudies Program and taught almost every subject until his retirement in 2013.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alan was passionate\nabout his writing, whether it was writing judicial opinions as a\njudge, or writing books on the fundamentals of law. Alan wanted to bring the\nlaw to everyone in an easily digestible form, even into retirement where he\ncontinued to update his books for potential paralegals across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Alan\nwas preceded in death by his parents and is survived by two brothers,\nGary Beckman (Lucy) of Arlington, TN and Lee Beckman of Fort Lauderdale; one\nson, Jarad Beckman (Gigi) of Las Vegas, Nev., one grandchild, Elise Amelie\nBeckman of Las Vegas, Nev.; as well as niece Ashley Troughton (Jeremy) and\nnephew Nicholas Beckman (Nikki) of Arlington, Tenn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A memorial service will\nbe held at 10 a.m., September 8, 2019, at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel in\nPensacola. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
