\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCarnice \u201cPete\u201d Thurman,\n80, passed away on February 12, 2020, in Mayo. Pete was born November 14, 1939,\nin Martinsville, Va., to Taswell C. Thurman and Odell Hall Thurman.
\nPete honorably served our country in the United States Coast Guard. He was a\nChristian of the Baptist faith. Pete spent his adult life as a civil servant in\nthe State of Florida, serving with the Florida Fish and Wildlife, as a Florida\nState Trooper, Perry Fire Dept. and Perry Police Dept., and retired from Taylor\nCounty Sheriffs Dept. after 26 years.
\nPete was preceded in death by his parents Taswell C. and Odell Thurman and his\nwife Linda Thurman.
\nMr. Thurman is survived by his three children Teresa (Wayne) Sumrall, Linda Ann\n(Anthony) Jordan and Chad Thurman and daughter-in-law Melanie Thurman; his\nbrothers Gerald Thurman and Tommy Thurman, both of Virginia, and Kenny Thurman\nof Starke; four grandchildren Michelle Sumrall, Jessica Sumrall, Brandin\nThurman and Bella Thurman; five great-grandchildren Sebastian, McKenzie, Kyler,\nMason and Maci; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
\nFuneral Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral\nHome of Perry with Pastor Wallace Holmes officiating and the Taylor County\nSheriff Dept. Honor Guard. Private Interment services will be held at a later\ndate at Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.\non Friday, Feb. 14 at Burns Funeral Home of Perry. All arrangements are under\nthe direction of Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
