Pete was born November 14, 1939,\nin Martinsville, Va., to Taswell C. Thurman and Odell Hall Thurman.<br><br>\nPete honorably served our country in the United States Coast Guard. He was a\nChristian of the Baptist faith. Pete spent his adult life as a civil servant in\nthe State of Florida, serving with the Florida Fish and Wildlife, as a Florida\nState Trooper, Perry Fire Dept. and Perry Police Dept., and retired from Taylor\nCounty Sheriffs Dept. after 26 years.<br><br>\nPete was preceded in death by his parents Taswell C. and Odell Thurman and his\nwife Linda Thurman.<br><br>\nMr. Thurman is survived by his three children Teresa (Wayne) Sumrall, Linda Ann\n(Anthony) Jordan and Chad Thurman and daughter-in-law Melanie Thurman; his\nbrothers Gerald Thurman and Tommy Thurman, both of Virginia, and Kenny Thurman\nof Starke; four grandchildren Michelle Sumrall, Jessica Sumrall, Brandin\nThurman and Bella Thurman; five great-grandchildren Sebastian, McKenzie, Kyler,\nMason and Maci; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.<br><br>\nFuneral Services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 2 p.m. at Burns Funeral\nHome of Perry with Pastor Wallace Holmes officiating and the Taylor County\nSheriff Dept. Honor Guard. Private Interment services will be held at a later\ndate at Pisgah Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.\non Friday, Feb. 14 at Burns Funeral Home of Perry.
