Mr. Robert \u201cBob\u201d David Poole, 94, passed away on Feb.18,\n2020, in Perry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He was born June 6, 1925, in Electric Mills, Miss., to Mr.\nLeland Caldwell Poole and Annie Bell Holder Poole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bob honorably served his country in the United States Army\nAir Corps during World War II.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Following his discharge from the Army, he met and married\nMarjorie Montgomery during his junior college years at Jones County Jr. College\nin Ellisville, Miss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
From there he attended school at Mississippi State in\nStarkville, Miss., graduating with a degree in chemical engineering.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Upon graduation he accepted a job with Proctor and Gamble\nCorp. in Memphis, Tenn., and later transferred to be a part of the startup of\nthe Foley Paper Mill in Perry. His career there spanned nearly 35 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He had a heart for service, volunteering with the Boy Scouts\nof America, Salvation Army, Kiwanis Club, FCA, Upward Sports and served in many\nleadership capacities at First Baptist Church of Perry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In retirement, one of his favorite roles was grandparenting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bob was preceded in death by: his wife of almost 72 years\nMarjorie Montgomery Poole; his parents, Leland and Annie Bell Poole; and one\nsister, Betty Ann Berry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He is survived by: two daughters, Joan Brett and her husband,\nGary, and Nancy Braun and her husband, Jeff, of Fort Mill, S.C.; four\ngrandchildren, Lauren Brett Rhea and husband, Barry, of Birmingham, Ala., Amy\nBrett Sherrer and her husband, Ryan, of Perry, Hayden Braun of Fort Mill, S.C.,\nand Amelia Braun of Greenville, S.C.; and five great-grandchildren, Charley,\nCaden and Elizabeth Rhea of Birmingham, Ala., and Presley and Ellie Sherrer of\nPerry, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, especially Bert Close (Janeen)\nand Trish Close, both of Peachtree City, Ga.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among those he dearly loved were his \u201cadopted\u201d\ndaughters\/caregivers, Cynthia Buggs and Angela Oliver of Perry, and numerous\nothers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, at 4 p.m.\nat First Baptist Church of Perry with Pastor Steven Ruff, Captain Gene Carter\nand Gary Brett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Today\n(Friday) at First Baptist Church of Perry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
