County votes to restore Hampton Springs pool

    Posted on March 7, 2018

Responding to a wave of public outcry from locals and out-of-town residents, Taylor County commissioners voted 4-0 Monday night to reverse course and undo action taken last week when county staff filled in the historic Hampton Springs pool to address liability concerns.

A rising tide of negative public opinion from those saddened and outraged over the safety measures, which were recommended by the county’s insurance carrier, prompted county commissioners to add the Hampton Springs Pool controversy to its agenda just prior to its March 5 meeting.
