Heat index sizzles at 109 degrees

The National Weather Service (NWS) is once again forecasting the heat index will top triple-digits today (Wednesday) and local emergency officials are warning people to take caution while outside.

Although summer in Florida can usually be counted upon to be hot, the past several days have taken it to an extreme level, with the heat index topping 100 for up to eight hours each day since Saturday.
