Murphy prepared to take the lead in honoring soldiers

While joining the rest of the country in mourning the deaths of five American soldiers killed Thursday in Chattanooga, Tenn., Taylor County Clerk of Court Annie Mae Murphy was also moving forward with plans to see the men honored.

“The Taylor County Board of County Commissioners can order for flags to be lowered at half-staff. I was working on (asking) that when Gov. Rick Scott issued an executive order proclaiming that all national and state flags be lowered to half-staff Monday afternoon,” Murphy said Tuesday morning.
