State Surgeon General and Secretary of Health Dr. John Armstrong visited the Boys & Girls Club of North Central Florida (Taylor County branch) to highlight their commitment to helping children lead healthy lifestyles.
During the event, more than 40 children and their teachers joined Armstrong to highlight the importance of getting active at an early age. The children had the opportunity to learn about healthy portions and participated in simple, fun exercises.
“What we did here was to show how important healthy choices are for after-school activities here at the Boys and Girls Club in Perry. I’m so excited to hear the drums and to see the dancing and activities; these kids are learning how to make healthy choices with what they eat and now they are going to stay active for a lifetime,” Armstrong said.
The Health in All Places Tour is a chance for state, local and community leaders to come together to highlight what each coastal county has to offer when it comes to health.
