Hampton defends 82-percent raise as ‘reinstatement’ of previous salary

Several members of the Perry City Council made the case for a proposed 82 percent pay hike during the first public hearing on the proposal, with Councilwoman Shirlie Hampton stating it was simply a “reinstatement” of what is due them.

A first reading of the ordinance was held last week and a final vote will be taken at the council’s Dec. 8 meeting.
