Lockdown drill will test courthouse response to active shooter scenario

Although planned long before Wednesday’s mass shooting in California, local officials are mindful of the timing of a Courthouse Coercion Exercise set for next week to test the capabilities and knowledge of courthouse employees in the event of a similar incident occurring here.

As of presstime, a motive was not immediately apparent for the couple who went on a shooting rampage killing 14 people and injuring another 21 at an employee party held at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, Calif., but federal officials had not ruled out terrorism.
