BBQ teams vie for $10,000 in prizes

Thirty-three cook teams are expected in Perry this week for the eighth annual Southern Pines BBQ Festival, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Forest Capital State Park.

The teams will be competing for more than $10,000 in cash and prizes while producing mountains of pork, chicken, brisket and ribs for the more than 65 certified judges attending this weekend’s event.
