Although students will be leaving school at the end of the week for their winter holiday break, the Florida Department of Education (DOE) still hasn’t released final school grades for 2014-15, which was the first in which students faced the new statewide Florida Standards Assessment (FSA).
Last week, DOE released simulated school grades based on Commissioner of Education Pam Stewart’s recommended FSA cut scores (the score students must meet to earn each of the five score levels). Under the simulated scores, all four local schools graded would earn a “C,” including Taylor County Elementary School (TCES), Steinhatchee School, Taylor County Middle School (TCMS) and Taylor County High School (TCHS).
