Aucilla Area Solid Waste representatives visited the Taylor County Commission to provide an update on the facility and to present a $65,478 dividend check to the county.
Engineer Frank Darabi told commissioners that the facility is looking to generate electricity by drilling through the solid waste to make use of gases. Employees are also using solar sheeting on top of areas to add to the output. He said this was part of their work to ensure the landfill was not a “liability but an asset” for the future.
