Doctors’ Memorial Hospital (DMH) moved to its current location more than a decade ago and its former building on Ash Street has been empty since, left vacant and in increasing disrepair.
The Taylor County Commission has on numerous occasions discussed possible uses for the building, one of the largest vacant structures in Perry, but time and again, the extremely high estimated costs to renovate the building have brought those talks to a standstill.
Now, however, with the building sporting a large hole in its roof, allowing both rain and thieves access to the interior, the commission appears ready to finally take action: either find a use for the building or tear it down.
