Facing overcrowding within the county courthouse, the Taylor County Commission is looking for ways to alleviate the problem, including the possibility of purchasing a downtown building to house some of the offices currently in the courthouse.
In an earlier attempt to help the problem, the board agreed in July 2014 to purchase a former convenience store on U.S. 19 to house the Supervisor of Elections office, but that move has been met with complaints over moving a constitutional officer out of the downtown district.
