Election year off to a brisk beginning with 22 candidates

In the wake of two local, longtime incumbents announcing they would not seek re-election this year, the number of candidates continues to rise, with three new hopefuls filing paperwork in the last week.

Johnnie Mae Blount is the third person to file for the Taylor County Commission Dist. 5 seat currently held by Pat Patterson, who announced this week she will not seek re-election.
