Mitchell joins police force

The Perry Police Department (PPD) welcomed its newest member, Marine veteran Charles “Chas” Mitchell, to the fold with a swearing-in ceremony Wednesday morning.

With his father, Jim, in attendance and his mother, Valerie, watching via a video call, Mitchell swore the law enforcement oath as administered by PPD Chief Jamie Cruse.

PHOTO: Charles “Chas” Mitchell’s father, Jim, is well-known for his long career at Doctors’ Memorial Hospital. His mother, Valerie, lives in Michigan and was able to watch his swearing-in ceremony via a live video call.
