The American Red Cross (ARC) has partnered with the City of Perry Fire Department to distribute and install free smoke alarms this Saturday, March 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We will be going door-to-door in a neighborhood already identified by the fire department offering the free alarms to residents who do not have them,” Disaster Program Specialist Jacar McCloud said.
“This is part of ARC’s nationwide home fire preparedness campaign. Our goal is to install up to 60 alarms Saturday. The alarms are free and come with a lithium battery that has a 10-year lifespan.
“The number one disaster ARC responds to is house fires.”
