Taylor dodges governor’s veto pen

Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced Tuesday he would use his line-item veto power to remove $256 million in funding from the 2016 state budget, but Taylor County’s allocations escaped this final round of cuts.

Scott made his announcement earlier than normal this year, even before the legislature had a chance to officially present him with their final budget; the House and Senate approved the document Friday, March 11.
