The Taylor County Commission recognized retiring Historical Society President Wanda Cash Monday, May 6, for her 17 years of service to the commission.
Cash, who has served as president since 1999, has “worked and made a great impact on collecting and preserving the history of Taylor County,” stated a resolution the commission unanimously approved.
In 2007, Cash received the Dr. Peacock and Dr. Hendry Award, and in 2008 she was named “Lady of the Year.” After the resolution was read aloud during Monday’s meeting, the commission and audience joined together to give her a standing ovation.
“I love what I have done with the Historical Society,” Cash said. “Though without help, I couldn’t have done it.”
