‘Beauty & the Beast’ ballet opens May 10

The Tallahassee Ballet presents “Beauty and the Beast,” an original ballet choreographed by Artistic Director Rick McCullough, this weekend (May 10-12) at Florida State University’s Nancy Smith Fichter Dance Theatre.

Few fairy tale heroines deserve their happily-ever-after’s more than Beauty, whose pure love tames the savage Beast. In this version, the Beast presides over a menagerie of leopards, monkeys and birds. He is a cross between a bear and a lion, with fangs and a hairy face.
