Mayor says council ‘failed employees’ by not censuring Hampton’s actions

Less than a week after being questioned regarding her interaction with city employees, Councilwoman Shirlie Hampton approached one employee’s mother as well as his wife, and made what they called, “derogatory comments” about their son and husband.

The incident, which was reported to City Manager Bob Brown per council policy, prompted Mayor Mike Deming to call for a resolution of censure against Hampton to be presented at the council’s April 12 meeting.
